My dreams came true: Paris.

In Soviet Union most of people couldn’t travel outside the country. It was so normal for us that I didn’t even think about it. I never dreamed of going to another country until my French teacher went to Paris and came back with so many incredible stories and pictures. She talked about people, architecture, art, and magnificent beauty of Paris. She brought real French newspapers that we carefully worked with, read them and translated. She did a picture slide show and there… There was freedom, love, carefree and freedom again. For the first time in my life, I felt like something wrong in the Soviet Union. Something was missing. Life undoubtedly exist outside of USSR.

Later, after the Soviet Union collapsed, we obtained more information about other countries. We got more foreign movies and food in the stores and fashionable clothes, but 90th was so penniless that Paris has been just a lifelong dream. At that time I just kept dreaming and was watching a French TV show called “Hรฉlรจne et les Garรงons”. The students in the show always had a croissant for breakfast. Real French croissant! It looked so delicious, but it still remained just a pipe dream.

Much later, my husband gave me an envelope and said: โ€œWe are going to Paris to celebrate your birthday!โ€ There were two tickets to long-awaited Paris!!!.

My girlish dreams came true:

See the Paris

Paris! City of Dreams! Remarkably beautiful, romantic, elegant, historic, and enchanting. I wanted to see the Eiffel Tower. We came to the Champ de Mars in the evening, and it was absolutely the right decision. The iconic tower was illuminated from inside and outside, from the bottom to top, gave the tower lightness and highlighted the fine metallic structure. First impressions are important, and the magnificent sight of the Eiffel Tower just took my breath away. The panoramic view of the evening city from the top of the tower was also mesmerized. We came back to see the tower during the daytime, but the beauty was different. Of course, we walk a lot, exploring the city and landmarks. We went to the top of the dome of the Sacrรฉ – Cล“ur Basilica and enjoyed of a spectacular panoramic view of Paris, behold Notre-Dame de Paris, impressive architecture of the city, art, the Centre Pompidou, strolled around Stravinsky Fountain with contemporary sculptures, have seen the incredible glass business district La Dรฉfense and much more. We rented bicycles and rode around trying to see as much as possible and we did. Our trip was absolutely enjoyable and wonderful.

 Feel life, love and freedom.

I enjoyed the life and breathed freedom while was laying down on the grass in Paris.

  2. Wow, Angela, I didn’t realize you’d grown up in Russia! (Or USSR? My friend who is Russian calls it Russia, but maybe that’s because she’s 38.) I know this post is old, but I’m so glad you got the trip of your dreams!
