Best crepes and onion soup in Paris.

I was so enthusiastic when I started this post and got very upset during the writing and researching process.

I wanted to share with you, my dear travelers, good restaurants in Paris, but I discovered that the majority of them had closed due to the pandemic.

It was heartbreaking and disappointing.

So, I can only share two of my favorite restaurants with you. The food was very good and delicious. And I recommend these places.

Best French onion soup 
Pom’Cannelle

This is a modest, but cozy restaurant on Ile Saint Louis that serves the best French onion soup.

I will be honest, and I am very sorry to say it, but I don’t understand onion soup. I tried it several times in good restaurants, but…. never liked it.

Of course, in Paris, it would be a shame not to try it again and…. I tried! I didn’t regret… it was absolutely delicious.

Our food was very appetizing. We had onion soup, meat, ratatouille (another delicious dish to try), and ice cream. Our dinner was very enjoyable.

Pom’Cannelle is located in a tourist area, close to the Cathedral Notre-Dame de Paris, but hidden from tourists. I recommend this place.

Au P’tit Grec

I think this is the best crepes in Paris.

This little café opened in 1981. It has style, good quality food, wide varieties, amazing taste, and fun. Also, a perfect meal on the budget.

The Au P’tit Grec located in 5th arr., only 20 minutes walk from Cathedral Notre-Dame de Paris and 13 minutes from Luxembourg Gardens. 

They are still open, and I recommend this place as well.

Unluckily, there is only two café from my list that survived, and I sincerely hope they can find a way continues to work.

This is one of the oldest coffee houses in Paris. It first appeared around 1887. Lots of celebrities, famous actors, art people, high-profile writers and philosophers visited this café. 

Café de Flore  located at the corner of Boulevard Saint-Germain and Rue Saint-Benoît, in the 6th arrondissement.

  6. Sad that so many places are not re-opening after the pandemic, but you’ve given me a couple of places to put on the “must visit list” for next time. I suppose to look on the bright side there will be new favourites to find and enjoy as things get back to the new normal.

  13. I know la rue des deux-ponts. A very pleasant street. I will try Pom’canelle. (I may actually have bought ice-cream there already)
    Soupe à l’oignon is an art. Very much recommend after a night of partying and drinking. Have a soupe à l’oignon in the wee hours of the morning. Maybe at les Halles (Chien qui fume)
